Before the battle the Texans struggled to gain troops and supplies, while the Mexicans had 6,019 troops and plenty of supplies.

 

During the battle the Mexicans attacked first killing or injuring troops nearest to them. Travis said after he was awoken ”Come on boys, the Mexicans are upon us and we'll give them hell!”. Then the Mexicans decided not to surrender.

After the battle all the defending Texans died, very few of the Texans survived the battle. Those who did survive were executed.
